Travel agent demos in Bristol
Central Bristol was visited by Gateway to Hell activists, enlightening and informing the public of the links between travel agents and the scandalous primate importation industry.
Every year thousands of primates
are brought into the UK from countries like Mauritius, these poor creatures
often come in in the cargo holds of airplanes. Some animals die in transit,
they are the lucky ones, the rest are destined for the hell of torture in
UK labs. Travel agents are a really good and something that anyone can do:
they are easy and effective.
Travel agents are important on several levels, firstly they send the message
to the Mauritian government that unless they stop exporting primates into
the UK for animal experiments we will target they tourist and sugar industry:
the two main forms of income for the country.
Secondly tourism is a very vulnerable industry, it relies upon public opinion
and upon people wanting to go to a certain country.
As long as Mauritius exports primates for vivisection we intend to make it
a very undesirable holiday destination indeed, people are not going to be
able to go there without being fully aware of the poor trapped animals that
are traveling with them. As Mauritius is such a small country every tourist
that makes the ethical decision not to go there will be a loss to them. How
often can you say that of a company or target? That every person that boycotts
will actually count.
Thirdly this affects the airlines: air Mauritius etc, they are losing out
for every passenger who does not fly with them, and there are plenty of other
ethical airlines to chose from. Furthermore, the airports themselves will
feel the effect of this as travel agents demos are publicizing the issue and
bringing it onto the high street more people are going to be aware of what
is at stake here, and due to the media frenzy of lies about animal rights
extremism and the fear the government biased media has generated it will backfire
on themselves as people aren’t going to want to fly.
Travel agents demos are effective on so many levels, and are easy to accomplish.
The support we received from the travel agents in Bristol was astounding.
We first went to Going Places, we went in and spoke to the management and
then we had a short demo outside, we next moved onto Thompson.
The manager here was incredibly
supportive, as soon as we told him what happens he immediately said he supports
us completely, asked for leaflets to distribute to his staff and said he welcomed
demos outside his shop. He rung his head office straight away saying that
the Bristol office were not happy that the company were involved in profiting
from animal abuse and torture by selling air Mauritius flights.
In addition to this we received a great reception from the public, many people
turned away after being handed leaflets and many were interested in the campaign
and expressed support.
With targets in such easy reach and everything laid out for us, we have no
excuse not to be doing demos and ending the import of primates into the UK.
You must ask yourself, what is important? If you were an animal in a lab,
what would you want people to do to get you out?
You would want them to target everyone they could, do everything they could to end your suffering and torment. If you had toxic chemicals poured onto you or into you and the pain was so great that, writhing in agony you broke you own back and slowly died, longing for the end yet fighting for your life.
You would want people to get out there and fight to save you, the targets are they, it needn't be a big deal, just do something today to save the animals, there is more at stake than we can imagine, and we cannot afford to lose.
