Last Friday, a group of activists
descended on Air Mauritius, 49 Conduit Street, London, W1S 2YS. Tel:0207 434
4375/6/7 (reservations) also 0207 437 7075 admin/accounts).
Air Mauritius are a particularly dodgy group of wierdos, importing live
primates for vivisection. We spread out across their front entrance with a
banner showing exactly what happens to animals who end up in labs.
With a few unsavoury looking characters poking their beady little eyes out of a window in the back room, we began to shame Air Mauritius for what they do, using a megaphone to make sure everyone heard us.
After we thought they'd recieved enough embarrassment for one demo and plenty of leaflets had made their way into the hands of passers by, we began to move on, but as we were packing away, a curious looking man who had been watching our demo came over and spoke to us.
He said he came from Mauritius and
was appalled to learn that their airline was dealing in such a sick trade.
The embarrassment goes
on... Air Mauritius, as I have said before, are particularly dodgy, so
please let them know just what their dealing with. Contact them, hold
demonstrations and let people know why were so enraged by this airline.
Moving on, we set up outside Aeroflot, a Russian Airline, 70 Piccadilly, London,
WIV 9HH. Tel:020 7355 2233. The windows at this place are great!
They're huge, so everyone inside gets to see the full force of our demo. To
follow the example of our last visit here, the place cleared out pretty quick
once the customers inside got a look at the posters and banner.
Not only that, but the police were
'guarding' the door, or more to the point scaring away anyone who was thinking
of entering. We even managed to get a member of the public to speak on the
megaphone and tell people of his opinions of animal abuse.
Our final destination of the day was BAA plc, 130 Wilton Road, London, SW1V
1LQ. Tel:0207 834 9449. Activists on the megaphone made short work of BAA's
dignity and kept up the pressure for about an hour. At this site there are
loads of people to show loads of support and we were never short of people
to inform.
This demo is just one of many and the sooner BAA realise that there is no justice in the work they do, the better. If they don't stop importing animals, they won't see an end to animal abuse and if they don't see an end to animal abuse, they won't see an end to our demos. It's as simple as that!
