TRAVEL AGENT DEMOS IN WORCESTER
To view the pictures from this demo please click here

Following on from last weekend's demos against travel agents in Worcester as part of the Gateway to Hell campaign, a group of activists decided to pay a return visit to Thomas Cook, Going Places, Thomson and Co-op travel to hold demos at each.

Thomas Cook was first - as soon as activists arrived with leaflets and posters the doors were locked from the inside. Each customer virtually had to 'knock' on their door to get in! This week a fat manager from Thomas Cook came out and spoke. He accused activists of ruining his business (it's working then!) amongst other things.

We accused his company and the airlines they use of ruining the lives of
animals and that we weren't going anywhere until Thomas Cook put pressure on Air Mauritius who transport animals from other countries to their bloody deaths in
British vivisection labs such as Huntingdon Life sciences, Oxford
University, Sequani Limited, Covance Laboratories, Wickham Laboratories,
Inveresk and many other hell holes.
He went back inside and called the police.

Two officers a few moments
later actually came running down the high st towards us and into the
shop. Five minutes later they came out, said they were happy with the
demo and wished us well! What the guy had been saying to them no one
knows but the cops came like there was an immediate emergency situation going on.

After plenty of leaflets had been handed out it was off to Going Places for a noisy demo. The assistant manager came out and jubilantly told us that they did not use air china, el-al or air japan! hurray for him! ..

When we pulled him up on Going Places using air france and air Mauritius he went back into the shop threatening to call the police (who never came!).

Next off, Thompson travel in the crowngate centre in Worcester: an
enclosed space which is great to shout in! Passers by were warned that the above mentioned airlines line their pockets from the suffering of
animals held in freezing cargo holds on their way to UK vivisection
laboratories. Plenty of leaflets were handed out and people informed of
the disgusting trade in animals that is taking place under their noses.
Private security were soon on our backs but we refused to be moved.

A red faced and angry plain clothed cop arrived and threatened to arrest
everyone for breach of the peace. This cop is a particularly nasty piece
of work as we have had experiences with him before at previous anti-fur demos in Worcester.

We argued and stalled for a while and then moved on to Co-op travel in the High St. 20 minutes were spent shouting, talking to passers by and leafletting.

Once again we returned to Thomas C(r)ook where three activists entered the shop to hand leaflets to whoever was 'in charge', leaflets were screwn up by the manager who obviously couldn't give a toss about anything except for the size of his wallet.

This now very irate manager came out and had a fit about us taking
pictures of his shop front saying that it was illegal and tried to stop
us. We got a nice snap of him as he approached the camera!

The plain clothed cop who had obviously been tailing us rushed into
Thomas Cook followed by a uniformed officer. Where's the fire? Where's the emergency? Pathetic. Go solve some real crime! The manager of Thomas Cook had got these cops like puppets on strings today.

Donations totalling £8 were given from compassionate members of the
public towards to campaign. This money will be going back to the Gateway to Hell campaign to help pay for all the leaflets they have sent and for the postage. It's nice to be able to give something back!

We're pretty sure we will be back soon highlighting the cruel trade in
animal abuse that these airlines profit from.
