TRAVEL AGENT DEMOS
IN WORCESTER

Hot on the heels of the excellent
Sequani labs demo in Ledbury earlier
today 30.04.05, as part of the Gateway to Hell campaign, 16 activists then
travelled to Worcester to hold four demos against travel agents who use Air
France airlines, Mauritius, china, Japan and El-Al.
All of the airline companies mentioned above transport animals to their deaths
in British vivisection laboratories from abroad, meanwhile the holiday passengers
above the cargo holds on these planes are blissfully unaware of the primates,
dogs and cats that are below them on a one way trip to HELL to be poisoned,
burnt, electrocuted, starved, sliced into, mutilated, tormented and killed
in British vivisection labs.
This campaign is all about letting the public know what else their
holiday travel firm is involved with and making money out of at the same time
as it makes money out of them.
First stop was Thomas Cook in the High st in Worcester. Activists
occupied the shop whilst others set the banners up outside. Staff and
customers inside the shop were told of the horrific suffering animals
undergo during airline transportation - no food, no water and if they
make it to the vivisection labs alive without suffocating to death or
dying of dehydration, no mercy either at their destination!
One of the workers threatened to lock activists inside the shop but soon changed
her mind when she was told about unlawful imprisonment and that one of the
occupying activists 'may' have a serious medical condition!
After leaving the shop to join other activists outside, the demo began,
with tons of leaflets being handed out and lots of people spoken to
about how these airlines and travel agencies profit from suffering and
death. The public are always shocked to the bone and repulsed to hear about
animals imprisoned in cargo holds on tourist flights.
The next stop was Going Places in Pump St Worcester who again use these airlines
that also transport animals to their deaths. Again the shop was occupied by
eight activists urging the manager to contact his head office, tell them of
the demo and question the ethics of his governors re being part of this trade
in non-human animal lives.
The guy was pretty smarmy and tried
to use diversion tactics to escape the guilt surrounding his place of work
that use airlines that transport animals
to the vivisection labs.
He soon freaked when he noticed activists stuffing leaflets in their
great big holiday catalogues for customers and also when he saw himself being
videoed.
On leaving the shop the boys in blue (black and white rather) arrived in
a riot van, eight of them trooped out but were pretty much ok and let
the demo run outside as it was doing.
More leaflets were handed out and more attention brought on Going Places regarding
their links with animal cruelty. As with the Hereford demos, the gorilla was
with us all the time drawing extra attention!
Third stop Thomson travel agents in the crown gate centre Worcester who also
use the above mentioned airlines.
The woman 'in charge' was seemingly
nice at first and accepted leaflets but as she was questioned
deeper about her contacting head office she freaked also and ordered
activists out of the premises, who of course did not oblige her request. Leaflets
were being busily stuffed into their travel brochures.
These brochures are so big it would take staff a millenium to find the
paper thin leaflets inside them ready for prospective customers to find
instead! Eventually after being ushered from the crown gate premises by 'reasonable'
security guards, activists left for a quick return back to Thomas Cook and
also a brief stop at the Co-op travel agents in High st to demo and leaflet
further.
Again another highly succesful group of demos ending off a full on day for
the animals in the Worcester area. Til the next time! For the
animals always! Their tormented lives will never ever be forsaken!
