MAURITIUS DEMO
IN BRISTOL AT
THOMAS COOK AND GOING PLACES
Today Thomas Cook in Bristol received a visit
from
local activists to let the public know of the vicious trade that many airlines
are involved in.
We concentrated on flights from Mauritius as airlines
continue to kidnap primates and ship them off to their
untimely deaths. Leafletters spread across the busy
high street and began informing people of what Thomas Cook support. Many animals
are dying because of
irresponsible airlines that are too stubborn to give
up the live animal trade and the animals don't deserve
to suffer at the hands of these people. Thomas Cook
can't afford to continue selling these holidays, for
the sake of their reputation, and other travel agents
have a responsibility to put pressure on the Mauritian government too - like
Going Places which is where we headed next.
The same thing happened here as activists despersed
into the crowds with info about Mauritius. After
leafletting here for a while, a few of us moved back
to Thomas Cook and we leafletted both travel agents at once. Passers by who
were on their lunch breaks were taking leaflets into work to spread around
for
themselves. We are going to continue to inform people
of Mauritius's primate trade until it stops and they
leave the primates where they belong, in the jungle. These animals are victims
of greed, show them that you care and get out there and get active!
