Thomas Cook demo in Nottingham
Saturday 13th. Unlucky for some
In spite of the heavy rain, a determined coalition of
East Midlands activists (primarily NAR and LLAC), held
an effective demo outside Thomas Cook in Nottingham's city centre. The response
from the public was very positive, a good many stopping to ask questions or
offer supportive comments - several changing their minds about booking a holiday
with Thomas Cook.
The message to Thomas Cook was very clear (and loud, and colourful..) : British
holiday makers are not
going to ignore the plight of Mauritian primates, and
Thomas Cook had better not do so. For a company in a such position of influence
and so much responsibility, turning a blind eye when they could easily end
the monstrous trade is not just immoral but also bad for business.
