Thomas Cook demo in Newcastle

Four of us met up and despite the persistent rain, handed leaflets out to shoppers outside Thomas Cook on Northumberland Street in Newcastle Upon Tyne.  Not quite realising what was going on the staff eventually began peering nervously out the door, looking at each other and muttering between themselves.  Eventually one brave soul, after studying a  leaflet, decided to come outside and confront us and her very words were " You can't hand those out  (I told we were perfectly entitled to) then she said (no lies) .... but that's bad publicity for us!"    [Bugger me dear -  that's the whole idea!! der....] 

A lot of people took the leaflets and could be seen reading them as they walked along and one or two couples, after studying the array of hols on offer in the window, when given a leaflet, read it and decided to 'go elsewhere to book it!

I think the lesson we learnt was that it is always worth turning up even if you have only a handful of leaflets and a few of you.
