Mauritius day of Action in Belgium

Saturday it was time for another Thomas Cook action day.  8 brave activists from Respect voor Dieren Belgium started the day at TC Kortenberg (Leuvensesteenweg 373).  Weaponed only with our determination, confronting posters, leaflets and a megaphone we started educating customers and passers by about TC's dirty business with Mauritius.  The TC shop was just next to a very busy supermarket,  so there were lots of interested people!  Like last time TC locked their doors immediately when they saw us, so that nobody could get in or out.  Brilliant, but we prefer to stay at the outside anyhow, so that we can inform all your potential customers.

Second stop of the day was TC Haacht (Markt 10).
Same story as the one before, locked doors.  At one time there were 6 customers who couldn't get in because "until those activists leave, we can't let anyone in"...
After we politely informed those customers, all of them left looking for another travel shop, really irritated with TC.  Good on you dear ex-customers of TC!
This didn't escape the notice of the shopmanager, who asked us in for a chat.  The guy "who himself was active in animal welfare"  understood why we were there.  And he also understood that he was gonna see much more of us in future if TC doesn't do the right thing and break their relationship with Mauritius immediately.

Last stop of the day was simply brilliant.  TC Leuven (Diestsestraat 99) lies in the middle of a very busy pedestrian shopping street.  No need to say that the doors were once again locked.  No problem for us, we like the idea of informing hundreds of people out on the street about TC's dirty business.  Lots (and we mean lots!) of people came to us asking for more information and a leaflet.  Through our megaphone we kept on repeating TC's shamefull secret, again and again.  So many people didn't know about TC and were really disgusted.

Until TC drops Mauritius we will be informing everybody about their dirty dealings with Mauritius.  Is Mauritius so important to you TC to loose customers over?

This action day was dedicated too 2 Dutch comrades who were imprisoned recently.  Their only "crime" is defending innocent animals, we salute you good friends!
