Thomas Cook demo in Wales

Protesters held another effective demo outside Thomas Cook in Wrexham today. We got lots of attention from passing shoppers who were horrified by the depths to which some companies will stoop to make a profit. As on one of our previous demos, some desperate Thomas Cook employees came and swelled the demo for a short while, trying to hand out holiday brochures. But by the time people reached a TC worker they were already looking with horror at one of our leaflets and weren't interested in what TC has to offer.

Hilariously, the police turned up and took quite some time reading the leaflet (well there are some words in it with more than two syllables). One hapless copper was interrupted by a passing member of the public who gave him a letter of complaint because the police had not turned up to an incident of criminal damage to her property the previous night. The police had been unable to send anyone to deal with this incident, but seemed to be able to muster two cars to attend a peaceful animal rights protest. With the letter of protest and a flea in his ear he went away and the demo continued until all of our leaflets had been given out.

Thomas Cook demos are a great way to keep warm on a cold winter's day. They will continue until TC do the decent thing and stop supporting the trade in live monkeys by selling holidays to Mauritius. Boycott Thomas Cook!
