Round up of recent Mauritian
Monkey Farm demos in Holland

8th of january - Den Haag/Netherlands - on a busy saturday afternoon activists of Respect voor Dieren informed the public about the primate trade from Mauritius at a Thomas Cook travelshop. Thomas Cook is selling 50.000 holidays to Mauritius on a yearly basis and is the biggest tour operator for this island. Thomas Cook can make the difference for the monkeys who are being posioned to death in animal testing facilities all over the world.

Middle january - Activists in Rotterdam walked into Erco Travel, a travel company specialised in Mauritius holidays. With a megaphone and a lot of noise the employees were confronted with the unethical side of their business. How can you tell people to enjoy their holiday on an island where monkeys have been kipnapped and killed for sick farma companies?  Why don't you tell the tourists that in the same airplanes they travel, the monkeys are incaged in wooden cradles? If you don''t tell the public, we will!

21st of january - Two Thomas Cook travel shops has been confronted with a noisy protest from our side. In Haren people were informed about the monkey trade of Mauritius.
"Blood, blood, on your hands" was shouted and I'm sure this will be the nr. 1 subject in this little town for a long time!

Second stop was Thomas Cook in the big city Groningen. Loads of people passed by and many of them were supportive. It seems like people do understand our story Thomas Cook! The question is when will you? It seems like your annual numbers were not so great this year.. The monkeytrade from Mauritius in connection with the
unwillingness of TC to act will be another PR disaster!

27th of january - Rotterdam. Two Thomas Cook travel shops have been confronted at the same time with activists informing the public. The employees of Thomas Cook
were supportive to our cause and we continued for 2 hours informing the people, who were supportive as well. With eight Thomas Cook trave lshops you will lose a lot of business in Rotterdam!

28th of january - Amsterdam. We started the day with one Thomas Cook travel shop and protested for 1,5 hour in the cold. Our hearts are warmed by the knowledge that we will win this campaign and close the monkey farms once and for all. It also helped that a couple wanted to book a trip to an exotic place and after they read our leaflet they moved on to another travel agency. Money you could have earned Thomas Cook.

Second stop was at a busy crossroad in the heart of Amsterdam. Thousands of people passed by and again a lot of support from the public. The Thomas Cook stayed empty for the 2 hours we stood there. Across the street the travel agency was loaded with people.

10th of february - Rotterdam. We went today for Erco Travels and Thomas Cook. With our megaphone we informed the people about Mauritius and the companies willing to work them - instead of choosing the side of the tortured. Loads of people passed by and were supportive.

It's amazing that tourists are making pictures of the monkeys in the wild, not knowing that if they fly back with KLM-AirFrance, there's a big fat change that some monkeys are on board with destination animal testing lab. Again the Thomas Cook outlet attracted one visitor.. asking the way for a competitive travelagency!

We're loud, with big numbers and prepared to take this fight to the bitter end Thomas Cook and Mauritius government!
CLOSE DOWN THE MONKEYFARMS!
