Bite Back holds a demonstration at
check-in desk Air France in Brussels

Brussels -
Air France once more targeted by animal right activists.

Recently an employee of air France France brought to light that air France transports laboratory dogs to the Parisian airport Charles the Gaulle on a weekly base. This anonymous Air France source confirmed his story to the French media.

Every Wednesday Air France delivers between 50 and 80 laboratory dogs to animal traders in Paris.
It concerns mainly young labradors and beagles. These animals are resold by animal traders to animal laboratories where they are used and killed for animal testing.

The international transport of test animals is in the hands of a number of airline companies such as Aeroflot, El AL, Japan Airlines and air France-KLM. Air France transports most test animals. From Mauritius alone they transport thousands of test monkeys annually.

Bite back campaign in Brussels

On Wednesday 22 March, activists of animal rights organisation Bite Back held a demonstration at the check-in desk and the office of Air France in the South Station of Brussels. At the check-in desk passengers who travel with the TGV to the Parisian airport and continue their travel with Air France from there onwards, can deliver their luggage.

An activist dressed up as a Beagle presented herself at the Air France check-in desk and asked for 'the transports
of death ' to stop immediately. The Beagle got support from other activists who held up action boards at the check-in.
This way passengers as well as Air France staff was informed about the trade in test animals. The pictures show how the security showed our Beagle the door. The air France manager informed the police.

However, to large vexation of Air France and the security, the police let us should continue our action.

The notorious American animal testing farm - Marshall farms - delivers the test animals for transport to air France.
