Very visual and vibrant demo against Nepal in Paris.
Sunday the 16th of November.
30 activists gathered at the Trocadero. This is a very touristic place because it's a beautiful monument but most of all because people like to
film and take pictures of the Eiffel Tower in the background!
We had a lot of success with our monkey masks, chains, posters and banners! All afternoon the megaphone went from one activist to another to
denounce this horrible monkey trade and Nepals complicity with the American vivisectors. People came from all over the site to see what was
going on and signed our petitions. Many took pictures and I hope that they will go around the world. We also filmed the action and are making a
short film for Youtube and Dailymotion!
Last Sunday, we only knew that the Nepalese government had changed it's mind about the ban on exporting their sacred monkeys. Now we know that 25 rhesus monkeys will soon be sent to the United States, where they will be used as subjects for research on HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis.
This is a special message to the Nepalese government:
“If you do not change your mind about the fate of these monkeys, if you do not release them into their natural habitat, then you will have to deal
with Coalition Anti Vivisection! If monkeys leave Nepal we will shame your country endlessly and this even if all the monkeys manage to get exported.
We are very determined and more and more people are joining us on this campaign. Think twice before you do anything stupid that could ruin your tourism industry!!"
